Pietro Gallus Estate Cellar Door Tasting Pavilion

Nestled in the sprawling hills of Warrandyte, Victoria, Pietro Gallus Estate celebrates the sweet life and transports you to the Italian countryside through estate grown produce, artisanal Grappa and liqueurs, and modern Italian food and wine.

Raven Architects were engaged to assist in the creation of a new Cellar Door Tasting Pavilion to complement the existing successful Pietro Gallus Estate Winery and Olivigna Restaurant in showcasing and experiencing the various estate grown products on offer to purchase.

The pavilion space, although modest in size, features carefully considered design elements derived through its function and use of materials. The hero is the feature in situ concrete bar with concave face and concealed LED uplighting comfortably seating 10 guests. Smoked glass dimmable bottle pendants hang above creating an ambient spatial mood in the evenings. Framing the view to the far wall is a French made cast iron fireplace seated on a cantilevered in situ concrete floating bench, a design feature in itself as well as creating a warm inviting space in the cooler months. The large sliding steel framed glass doors open up to an expansive dining terrace with views overlooking the Vineyard and Olive Orchard inviting patrons and passing guests into the pavilion for a sip and take away some estate grown produce on offer.
